Art Collection - A Visitors Perspective Each piece of Bonita and Rich Melville Art Collection tells a story. "These baskets were woven by my Grandmother's Father's First Cousin with the big ones nearly 50 years old". One delicate basket she has is over 100 years old. Not only are the baskets old, Bonita has a basket that was created by a 98 year old artists! Tales spilled out of Bonita often layered and interwoven with the painted art on the walls and sculpted pieces on tables. Perhaps the baskets are a metaphor to interconnections that Native American culture bound the people to each other and their environment. She would be delighted to share with you her personal collection of rare and unique native baskets, carvings, and sculptures. Telling you their stories, many of which are her families stories. Guest's have told us that staying here, "Is like living in a museum of Northwest Native American Culture." Absolutely! |
