Elisabeth Bart, M. Ed.,
Aquatic Specialist, Wellness Facilitator

Liz Bart on the BeachLiz's passion for water began in her childhood days on Long Island. As a Special Educator for Behaviorally Disordered and Learning Disabled children, Liz incorporated many holistic and relaxation techniques in her curriculum. While a mother with young children, she began teaching water exercise classes, again addressing the whole person. As a keynote speaker at a Water Exercise conference in Florida she was offered a Watsu session. It was an immediate match for who she is and what she believes!

Liz has been a certified WATSU® practitioner since 1998 and continues to expand her technique through ongoing education. She is a member of the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association and is certified through the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute. Most recently, Liz's continuing education with ATRI has focused on pediatrics and adaptive swimming. Her Watsu studies have included Watsu, Healing Dance, the Jahara Technique, Aquatic Integration and WaterDance (an underwater version of Watsu). Each warm water therapy session is individualized and may include any combination of these techniques, with the exception of WaterDance. It is recommednation that a client have at least three above water sessions before experiencing WaterDance.

In addition to operating Soothing Waters, Liz teaches yoga during her off-season. She recently retired from 18 years of teaching college level Wellness classes with a focus on "Educating for Humanity".

Liz continues to derive immense pleasure from water and delights in sharing the Wonders of Water with others by helping them to achieve well being and independence. Her 12 year public school teaching experience is an asset in teaching swimming skills to children and adults. liz2Her experience as a Watsu practitioner has added to her success in working with those who are fearful of water by promoting relaxation and trust. Liz is a certified Water Safety Instructor and has worked with a variety of special needs clients including the hearing impaired, blind, autistic, behaviorally disordered and mobility impaired.
