Skagit Transit Ballot Measure- A Good Deal - October 22, 2008
The interview described a current ballot measure which will allow Skagit Transit to preserve all its current service (some of which is funded by expiring grants) and also allow improvements to the service. For example, the very popular Everett service will likely have to be abandoned if the measure doesn't pass. The measure will also allow some Sunday service (there is currently none), more frequent service during the rush hour, and service in areas like East Mount Vernon, which currently have no service. Coupled with policies that favor walking and bicycling, these improvements will make our communities cleaner, safer, more attractive, quieter, more vibrant, and will help to combat the obesity epidemic.
