-
Place the cut tree in water as soon as possible to
maintain the freshness and minimize needle loss.
-
Avoid removing or damaging the bark of the tree,
because the outer layers are the most efficient at taking up water.
-
Use a tree stand that will hold an adequate amount of
water. As a general rule: 1 quart of water per 1" diameter of
the tree trunk.
-
Check the water level daily, ensuring that the
water level does not go below the base of the tree.
-
Remove any lower branches that prevent the trunk from
resting on the base of the tree stand.
-
Keep cut trees away from sources of heat such as:
fireplaces, heaters, heat vents & direct sunlight.
-
Lowering the room temperature will slow the drying
process and lower water consumption.
-
Remove the tree if allowed to become
dry.
-
When
removing the tree, wrapping the tree with a tarp or
bed sheet will minimize needle scattering.
