Flight Training, Rental

Here is the hotest news to hit the streets that I can remember!
WSPA members now have an unique opportunity to "rent" Seaplanes in Seattle.  Well, not exactly, but you don't have to own a Seaplane to fly floats.  I think the only places you can rent are Minnesota and Florida, and those are only seasonal.  Our area is a year round playground and now WSPA members are eligible to apply for a "Guest" membership at the Boeing Employees Flying Association. One of many aircraft they have is a Hawk XP on straight floats.

I'd met so many people at the trade conference that were seaplane rated, but didn't fly floats because they didn't own a seaplane.  So, I went to BEFA to see what could be done.  The outcome as stated by one of their board members... "BEFA is receptive to including seaplane pilots from your association as guest members.  Each guest applicant must be sponsored by a BEFA member.  I would propose Karen Stemwell and Jack Yager as focal points for sponsorship.  We do a background check on all guest members as part of our application process."

Visit their website for complete information. www.befa.org  There you can download and application and take it to their location in Renton.  The background check and application process can take 2 to 4 weeks.  Each application will be considered on an individual basis.  I think this is an excellent opportunity for our members, their fleet not only has a seaplane, but you can fly any of their other aircraft too.  Check it out!
