Discussion Group at Yahoo

The Discussion group is much like SPA’s old forum with an added benefit, Yahoo's Discussion Groups allow you to send a question or information and it not only goes on line, it goes email to the whole group. Anyone can then respond to the individual or the group. This can be done from your email program, or on the Yahoo Discussion group website. It is also a place where we can post information and pictures to help and inspire one another.
One September was a perfect example. Someone unfamiliar with Lake Isabel posted inquiries regarding going there for the first time. He had just completed building his ultra light on floats and wanted to know the do's and don’ts and what folks had to say. He was able to meet up with a new friend and they had a wonderful and safe experience at the lake with their two aircraft.
Sign up on the yahoo site, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WA-SPA/ It doesn't require any $ or any of your personal information.  They will ask you to create a username, password and Yahoo address, that's all.  They will also ask you if you want to use your Yahoo email address.  You don't have to use the Yahoo Address but your username will be the first part of that Yahoo address, example, for pilot@yahoo.com, the username would be "pilot."  You can use any email address you already have for their notifications, you never have to use the Yahoo Address if you don't want to.  It's a great tool you can post pictures, albums and get a near instant response to your questions.
Some folks have expressed some frustration because they may have missed a step.... Print this page and follow the steps.  It takes only about 5 minutes to set up, but once you get through a few steps, you can contact everyone in the group with one email and everyone's email address is protected.  I've used the Seabee group for a few years.  I can get almost instant answers to just about anything about the Seabee.  There are 277 members listed on the Bee group.  You can see the advantages.  If I have a seabee question, one email and I can query 277 seabee people.  We've only got about 54 so far in our group, but they are active local seaplaners.  You can opt out at any time, or elect to just stop receiving messages.
Another nice feature on the yahoo site is the way we can post pictures, add to an existing album, or create an album.  I've started a few albums, post a picture of you and your airplane in our "Members and their Aircraft Album."
Here are the steps to get started in the group:
1-http://groups.yahoo.com/ click on sign up
2-fill out the registration page and then submit it.  Make sure you use your regular email address when asked for an alternate email address.
3-then you can continue with or without installing their Yahoo Toolbar and they will send you a confirmation via email. (to your regular email address)
4- You must click on the link on your email to have them verify your email address.
5-Then you can type in WA-SPA and you will see our group.  Or go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WA-SPA/
6-Now, join that group and unless you want a Yahoo address, just select your regular email address in step one.  Step two, select individual email and step 3 full featured.
That's it.
If all that effort fails, I moderate the group and I can add your email address so you can post and receive messages via your email.  However, you will not be able to use the full features of the Yahoo website.  Just let me know.
