The quilt backing and batting each need to be a total of 8"-10" larger than the quilt top (4"-5" on each side)
Indicate the top of your quilt and backing
When seaming the back, seam with a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Press the seams open keeping the edges straight and even
If the backing edges are not straight and even, square them up. Remeasure the backing to be sure it is a total of 8"-10" larger than the quilt top
To avoid puckering, make sure your quilt top and backing have been pressed and the corners are square
Clip all hanging and stray threads (if you don't, they may appear as unwanted veins through your quilt)
If you will be requesting binding service or a hanging sleeve:
If you provide batting that is in a package:
-
remove the batting from the package a couple of days before the project is to be dropped off
-
unroll and unfold the batting and inspect for any torn sections
-
let the batting "breathe" for a couple of days to help remove the folds
-
then gently fold the batting to a manageable size
-
do not stuff the batting back into the plastic bag, but do bring the plastic bag
