Loria: Princess of Dragons
‘Very
well I should think, Majesty.’ answered Mavic, ‘She is
awake, if you’d like to speak to her.”
Now
the voice addressed Loria. ‘My name is Varistan. I am king of these dragons who live under the
earth. I would like to thank you for ridding us of Shoralel,
the evil one.’
‘…but
Majesty,’ Taluma had just entered the room. ‘It
wasn’t this girl who caused his death. The horse told us that another dragon
appeared. A huge blue one. Could it have been Yenoh? the Great Dragon?’
The
Earth Dragon paused for a moment. ‘It may perhaps have been Yenoh,
my father. Tell me horse… did he speak to you? Did you see in which direction
he flew?’
‘He
flew to the north, Majesty,’ Kian replied. ‘As for
what he said to me, it was only that he wished he could help Loria. And that she was brave.’
‘Shall
you go search for him, Majesty?’ Taluma spoke again.
‘I
think not. I have grown too old and too big to leave my cavern under this
mountain. But I will take volunteers to go in my stead.’
‘Taluma and I volunteer.’ Mavic
replied.
‘Very good. I was hoping you two would.’
“Um…King
Dragon, sir…” Loria spoke up, “If the hunt can wait
until I’m healed, I’d like to go too. I’m not quite in a hurry to go home you
see.. and…”
‘Of course!’ All three dragons said in unison. ‘We’ll just have to wait until
you’re well. The Great Dragon had been around since the beginning of the world…
I don’t think a few days will make much difference now.’
